L’OREAL AT KAIAUA

Strong winds and threatening rain failed to dampen spirits during the L’Oréal Citizen Day at Dingwall’s Kaiaua property in late July. Around 200 people were on site including 120 L’Oréal staff who threw themselves into multiple tasks. L’Oréal teams planted hundreds of shrubs, rebarked the playground, and painted and redecorated “the Black House”. Many staff also turned their hands to entertaining the Dingwall children, who had arrived at lunchtime, with face painting and art and craft activities, soccer games and beauty makeovers for caregivers and older girls. PROJECT FRASER

Fraser Cottage underwent an extreme makeover during the July school holidays, thanks to Kristin College students. The Kristin Prefect Project takes place every year and, in 2017, the students made Dingwall their focus, holding a fundraising event, planning the cottage makeover, then carrying out the work over five days. The 22 prefects, assisted by tradies, parents and school staff, repainted and redecorated six bedrooms, the games room and the main lounge of Fraser Cottage. INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

Dingwall celebrated USA Independence Day with a visit from US Vice Consul Aric Sottler and an all-American feast, organised by on-site nutritionist Danijela Unkovich. Aric and Mara Hosoda, youth specialist, also from the United States Consulate General in Auckland, were first given a tour of Dingwall and the Garden to Table project, then taken to the hall and greeted warmly by children and caregivers. Aric explained the history and significance of the July 4th Independence Day celebrations and answered the children’s many questions. They thanked him by way of song and a rousing haka.
