Sharing Shed – and the giving goes on
The Sharing Shed initiative at St Kentigern Girls’ School provides an avenue for the St Kentigern school community to support our children in residence and the young people accessing the Launch Care to Independence service through donations of clothing, furniture, books and toys.
In 2014 the St Kentigern community helped establish 18 flats as young people became independent of the care system. Donations of bedding, pots and pans, cutlery, crockery, appliances, whiteware and furniture assisted these young people with the very expensive task of setting up home.
64 young people in care received beautiful clothing, toys and games. The Dingwall children’s’ library was established through the wonderful variety of books donated and we created a reading corner with furniture and toys to match.
The generosity of the St Kentigern community continues to amaze us, as does the quality, quantity and presentation of the gifts to our community.
