Dingwall Director departs after 18 years at the helm
The departure of Tracie Shipton after 18 years as Dingwall Director was marked by a moving farewell ceremony, that included song and performance by children at the end of August. Each and every staff member and child who took part in organising, performing, or speaking at the farewell must be congratulated for pulling together an event that was professional but also hugely meaningful and dignified – a very fitting send off for a much-loved leader. Guests included Tracie’s family, board members, MPs, former residents and members of the Dingwall Association, former staff members, MPs and Oranga Tamariki executives.
At the outset, Tracie was gifted a beautiful Korowai from the Dingwall community, this emotionally charged moment set the tone for rest of the evening. As MC Jamie Boyd-Bell pointed out, it was about 3.5 seconds before Tracie was moved to tears. Many succinct speeches followed, expressing respect and gratitude for Tracie and what she has achieved at Dingwall. In return, Tracie emphasised how much she loved working at Dingwall and what a wrench the decision to leave had been. There is no doubt Tracie will be very much missed and leaves huge shoes to fill. Go well in to the future, Tracie, and in your new job at Voyce.
Residential Manager Tim Baldwin will act as Dingwall Chief Executive Officer until a permanent appointment is made.
