On June 20,carmen seven girls from Dingwall (aged seven to 13) were treated to a performance by NZ Opera of Carmen, one of the world’s best-loved compositions. It was the girls’ first opera experience and they were enthralled by the three-act creation, enjoying the singing (solos, duets and ensemble numbers) as well as the set design, costuming and live orchestra. The drama and passion of Carmen is something the girls will never forget – one said: “Watching Carmen made me think about love and how to share love with everyone around you. I think it was all about don’t fight over the one you love.”  Thank you to NZ Opera and the Manchester Trust for arranging the tickets. Image courtesy of NZ Opera, the children’s chorus in Carmen.
