Transition to Adulthood
WHAT WE DO:
Launch at Dingwall Trust is the leading Transition to Adulthood (TTA)** service in the country. With more than 17 years’ experience, we’re a pioneering voice advocating for our young people putting them front and centre in all we do. We’ve helped change the lives of hundreds of young people since 2004.
Our motto is “Unleashing potential and building connections” because we believe all children and young people have the potential to be amazing, thriving adults, but sometimes just need a little support and guidance to
get there. If we can help build connections, so young people are tied into
a community, we know the likelihood of success is much greater. Learning to live independently can be a minefield for any young person, even with
a stable home environment. It is so much harder for youth who have endured trauma and disruption in their lives and don’t have trusted adults to turn to or financial support. Which is where
Launch comes in.
Our team of 9 personal advisors works with young people aged 16-21 throughout the wider Tamaki Makaurau area to support and guide them through these critical years. Everything from finding employment, getting a driver’s licence and moving into independent accommodation, through to unpacking the care stories of young people, exploring personal identity and whakapapa, managing teen pregnancy and building connections with other care-experienced youth; there’s nowhere we’re afraid to go.
As a leading voice, we worked closely with Oranga Tamariki on the national roll-out of TTA services and are excited about the potential of this programme to reach young people throughout Aotearoa. If you would like to know more, please contact TTA Manager Uinita Vao at Uinita@dingwall.co.nz. We’re happy to work with you and your organisation as you develop your own service and we look forward to sharing our knowledge and experience.
